Batocera v.40-DEV na TV Box Beelink GT King - SHARE em NTFS

In this video, Josemar demonstrates the developer build of Batocera Version 40 (dated April 9, 2024) running on the Beelink GT King TV Box, which features an Amlogic S922X processor. Although the developer designed Batocera to be installed on the device's internal storage, Josemar explains that it can be booted from external media—such as an SD card, USB flash drive, or external hard drive—by utilizing specific scripts provided by user "rip" on the Batocera forum. Unlike previous setups for Batocera versions 37 and 38, this newer build no longer requires swapping out the device tree blob (DTB) file with an older version.

For the physical setup, Josemar utilizes a 2.5-inch external hard drive in a powered enclosure. Taking inspiration from subscriber feedback and official documentation, he formats the share partition as NTFS rather than exFAT or ext4, highlighting that Batocera natively supports multiple file systems including NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, BTRFS, and EXT4. Regarding controllers, he relies on a wired PlayStation 3 controller because PlayStation 4 controllers fail to register properly and trigger an issue where audio routes directly to the gamepad, silencing the primary display sound.

Upon booting the system, Josemar displays system details indicating a compact 4GB system partition, CPU speeds running at 1992 MHz, and stable operating temperatures around 56°C. He reviews the system settings and explores a wide selection of custom front-end themes, including Artflix, NX Alpha, Solo, Artbook Next, Cobalto, Crystal, Carbon, Epic Noir, Minimal, Next Level Remix, Hypermax Plus, and RVGM BT. He showcases the visual layouts and carousel designs of each theme before transitioning to practical gameplay testing across various emulation platforms.

During performance testing, Josemar evaluates titles from systems such as the 3DO, Atomiswave, Naomi, FB Neo, Game Boy Advance, MAME, Mega Drive, Neo Geo, PC Engine, PlayStation, PSP, Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Super Nintendo, and SuperGrafx. The Amlogic S922X processor delivers smooth, consistent performance across retro platforms, behaving similarly to EmuELEC setups. However, performance tapers off with 3D systems: GameCube games run moderately well with mixed results, whereas Wii games struggle significantly or fail to launch altogether alongside control input limitations. Ultimately, Josemar concludes that Batocera v40 serves as a capable emulation system on the Beelink GT King for classic retro gaming up through 32-bit and 64-bit eras.
